Prof. Adnan Erol is a physician, academic, and independent researcher in internal medicine whose career has combined clinical practice, medical education, hospital administration, and molecular research.
He graduated from Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt High School and received his M.D. from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1978. He subsequently completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Hacettepe University between 1978 and 1982.
Following his specialist training, Prof. Erol served as a physician at the Turkish Military Academies and was honorably discharged with commendation. Between 1984 and 1986, he voluntarily completed his compulsory service as a provincial specialist in Göksun, Kahramanmaraş. During this period, he became the founding Chief Physician of Göksun State Hospital.
He later played a leading role in the restructuring and development of the Silivri State Health Center and Hospital. These responsibilities gave him extensive experience not only in clinical medicine, but also in the organization and administration of public healthcare services.
Academic Career
Prof. Erol was appointed Associate Professor of Internal Medicine in 1992 and became a Full Professor in 2005. He served as a faculty member at Manisa Celal Bayar University and Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University Faculties of Medicine.
Throughout his academic career, he contributed to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, clinical practice, research, and institutional administration. Following his retirement from university service, he continued his scholarly work as an independent researcher.
From Clinical Medicine to Molecular Research
Since beginning his clinical practice in internal medicine in 1982, Prof. Erol has maintained a strong interest in the pathophysiology of human disease. Clinical observations gradually led him toward molecular biology and biochemistry, with a particular focus on the mechanisms underlying chronic and age-related disorders.
This interest deepened throughout the 1990s and developed into a sustained research program examining energy metabolism disorders and their associated signal transduction pathways.
His principal research interests include:
- Energy metabolism dysregulation in chronic diseases and oncology
- Molecular signaling pathways linking metabolic stress to cellular adaptation
- Interactions between metabolism, inflammation, and immunoregulation
- Cellular stress, senescence, degeneration, and malignant transformation
- Translational approaches connecting clinical observations with molecular mechanisms
His work is positioned at the intersection of clinical internal medicine and molecular mechanistic research. Through this perspective, he seeks to connect questions arising at the bedside with evidence from biochemistry, molecular biology, and cellular signaling.
Personal
Prof. Erol lives in Silivri, Istanbul. He is married and has one son and one grandson. He continues to write and conduct independent research on metabolism, aging, chronic disease, cancer, neurodegeneration, and the biological consequences of modern life.

The Precisionist Essays Series stands at the intersection of science, philosophy, and art — where clarity becomes a form of creation. Each essay seeks precision not as rigidity but as lucidity: the ability to reveal complexity through structure, to balance emotion with geometry, and to translate paradox into understanding.
